Frequently Asked Questions:
- Can another person remote start my vehicle?
Absolutely not! AstroStart transmitters contain some four billion codes with a possibility of programming up to four transmitters per module.
- Once my vehicle is remote started, is it still protected against theft?
AstroStart systems offer four ways to ensure that once your vehicle is remote started, no one can use the vehicle without the ignition key. The engine will automatically shut down if someone touches the brake pedal, moves the transmission lever, opens the hood or if the engine speed exceeds 3000 RPM.
- Can I accidentally start my vehicle without my knowledge and how can I tell if the engine of my vehicle has started?
To avoid accidental transmissions, you have to hold the buttons of the remote down for two seconds. This safety feature is supported by two simultaneous modes for confirming that your commands have been transmitted: the indicator light flashes and the remote chirps. From the car end, the parking lights will be on and the car horn will sound, on demand, to acknowledge that the vehicle has remote started (this confirmation requires optional parts and labor).
- How long will the engine run if I don't use my vehicle?
AstroStart offers an engine runtime that is adjustable from 2 to 18 minutes, and in some cases this runtime can be programmed by remote control.
- At what distance can I remote start my vehicle?
Your vehicle can be remote started from up to 2800 feet away(1/2 mile!). The operating range can vary depending on the type or the location of the vehicle, the surrounding environment and the remote starter model you use.
- Can I remote start two vehicles with the same transmitter?
Some models of AstroStart remote car starters do offer that possibility.
